I felt like I am in need

...of writing a new blog entry at newyears day.
Sadly I was too wasted to play Starcraft myself (due to the lack of sleeping [2 hours lol] and the enormous consumption of whiskey and vodka) today, thats why I am even happier about the replaypack released by GL.Snute He is an up and coming player and I enjoy his Stream very much. He plays a very different style of ZvP which was originally invented by a player named mouz.MorroW.
Fuck Protoss
On the first view his style looks kinda wonky but it's actually timed out just great and since my ZvP winrate is only 35% I figured: "Why not try this out it fits my style perfectly".

1. The general gameplan

The actual aim of GL.Snute is it to destroy the Protossopponent via the usage of excessive multitasking. His multipronged Zergling - Baneling Drops and Zerglingrunbies do not only wrack the Economy of his opponent, he also destroys many gateways and forces him into a decision which, on the one hand, is to conter the mass lings with colossi or to counter them with storm and archons. Depending on the decision the protoss takes, Snute adapts with, either roaches to counter archon and storm or mutalisk to counter the robo. The massive use of spinecrawler grants him the needed room to fall back if his aggression fails once.
This is the general order of upgrades to get (very basic)
  • Opening with an early hatchery
  • fairly early lingspeed to defend pushes and punish greedy protoss
  • planting an early evolutionchamber to start +1 meele
  • planting a banelingsnest even before the lair starts
  • building precautions (spinecrawlers) to defend the various amout of 2 base pushes protoss has to offer to savely tech to 2 base lair
  • taking 3rd base as soon as the danger of a 2 base push is stopped
  • Lairupgrades: Overlord SpeedVentral SacsCentrifugal Hooks ,  +2 Meeleattacks
  • building a Spire
2. The beauty of the opener of GL Snute
First of all, you can play his style with every opener that ends up with early speed and two bases but his opener is special. He is playing a different version of the 14 14 opener.
  • 9 (or 10) Overlord
  • 14 Pool
  • Expand @ 300 Minerals or as soon as the expansion is not occupied anymor
  • 20 - 22 Gas
MINUTE 10!
You might ask yourself: "lol why is this beautiful..?" I'll tell you. He delays his gas just slightly for the simple reason that - for his personal preference - the speed upgrade isn't that necessary that you need it as early as the 14 14 opener grants it. Because he is not having 3 Drones constantly mining gas, he gathers way more minerals than normal and he has the possibility of throwing down a very early hatchery (around the 16 supply mark) BUT even if a probe tries to annoy you and delays your hatchery your opener grants you enough minerals to just build 3 queens early and wrack up the creepspread. To conclude: if you play his opener you either have a very early natural compared to the 14 14 or you have early 3 queens to cover the whole map in creep till minute 10.

3. His trigger-moments
A 'trigger-moment' is a certain point of the game where his total pacificy from the beginning swaps into this crazy aggresive multiprogned attack gameplay.
In the beginning of the game Snute only uses his Zerglings to destroy rocks, eventually cancel a building nexus if the protoss goes for a greedy 1 gate expand strategy, and taking map controll but as soon as +2 Meele hits and Overlorddrop finishes his play begins.
+2 Meele allows banelings to oneshot probes and in combination with drop he is capable of destroying the entire economyline of a protossplayer.
As you can see on the minimap, displayed on the right side, he sends in 2 overlords full of banelings to bomb the economy lines on the veryleft you can see a little distracting runbysquad which pins the protoss to his 3rd and in the middle of both Snute as a pack of 7 overlords full of lings to drop into the main. He has 2 Overlords full of banelings amongst those 7. The Banelords are used to drop directly onto either sentries, sliding economies and warping stalkers. If one place isn't properly defended you are guaranteed to do sick damage.

4. The Transitions
Note: For his style it is very important to have a constant wall of spines to defend any kinds of pushes because at some point he is going to be forced into an allin and it's essential to defend the push to be able to stall enough time to accumilate the right amount of units and take the win.
As the aggressor it is important to spot which sort of unitcomposition the P is chosing. If he goes heavy colossi you transition int Muta Ling Baneling drop Play into fast Ultralisk 3 - 5.
In case of him building Archon Zealot + Storm you have to go mass Roach / Roach Hydra in order to take the win.

In the next post I will tell you my achievements with the build and I hope that I'll be capable of posting them soon. I hadn't had much time to write in the last week because I had to ladder the shit out of my league. ( IT WAS WORTH IT LOL)
